Community Guide & Business Directory | The Connecticut Shoreline

Supporting our community means buying local.

With this year’s publication of our 21st Shoreline Book, we step into our third decade of connecting Shoreline residents to local businesses and encouraging them to become regular patrons. It’s our primary mission, now that on-line purchasing and big box stores have made it increasingly difficult for small, locally owned enterprises of all kinds to compete. Indeed, we take pride in declaring that goal on the front page of all our directories with the words Connecting Local Residents with Local Businesses to Better Our Community…Buy Local – Find it Here.

Toward that same end, we are offering newly customized advertising packages created specifically to make appearing in The Shoreline Book even more worthwhile for our advertisers. These packages include:

  • Beautiful full-page Department Leader photos of advertisers, taken by our incredibly talented photographers, designed by our exceptional graphic artist, and positioned directly opposite each advertisers full-page ad

  • Advertising packages that include an original illustration or watercolor of an advertiser’s business rendered by one of our talented artists, as well as an engaging little editorial sidebars called a Nugget, written just for that advertiser by our skilled wordsmith

  • And articles of varying lengths, written specifically for our advertisers as part of their special advertising packages. All of this year’s articles can be found in the Table of Contents on page 18. We hope our advertisers will take advantage of this new opportunity to really show off their businesses — and we also hope our readers agree that they add a new and interesting depth to The Shoreline Book.

Just as all of these options enable local enterprises to share their unique messages with local residents in ways elegantly tailored by our talented staff, The Shoreline Book, along with The Valley Book, The Glastonbury Book, and The West Hartford Book — our other directories, are published in the highest quality printing format available and distributed to a carefully targeted audience, plus additional circulation, by direct mail. Anyone interested in talking about these opportunities can contact Steve Walsh, pictured above, on his cell phone at 860-670-6575 or This email address is being protected from spambots. And to all our readers along The Shoreline, we invite you to use this, our latest Shoreline Book as a resource to commit a larger percentage of your purchasing power to the wide variety of local entrepreneurs presented in this edition. Doing so will protect the spaces and places that make living here so genuinely special — and shopping here not only convenient but uniquely satisfying.
